Rotherham U16 Vs Grantham U16 7/4/2024

10 players headed to Maltby on Sunday evening to play their second W&D Under 16s match.

Last season Rotherham were undefeated and won every match in the Wakefield & District League Under 16s.

After a good start and finishing Q1 2-2, by half time the Grantham team trailed 4-8.

After a rallying team talk, the Grantham team came out pressing hard and defending well. The whole team pushed up on attack and in the third quarter Grantham scored 5 to Rotherham’s 2 goals, pulling the score back to 9-10. Reuben again was in fine form making some crucial saves.

In the final quarter the team continued defending well and wasted no time quickly levelling it up before pulling 2 goals ahead with 4 minutes to go. They ran down the clock when in possession and controlled the game well, finishing with a 13-11 win.

A fantastic result and a great all round team effort! It’s been a while since the U16s beat Rotherham!
