Saturday 20th Sept saw Grantham U16s take on Leeds at home. Always a close game, this one was no different. Leeds took the lead early in the first quarter and although Grantham pulled back in the 2nd quarter Leeds always kept 1 goal ahead for 3/4 of the match. However, moving into the last quarter Leeds began to tire and Grantham’s superior fitness began to tell. Relentless attacks saw Grantham draw level and finally move ahead of Leeds. However, Leeds pressed right to the end, but sterling defence prevented them from taking the win from Grantham. Goal scorers for Grantham were Sam Bellamy (3), Alfie Sharpe (2), Tom Darby (1) and Isabel Culham (1). However, the key battle of the game was the terrific performance by both goalkeepers, with a fantastic performance by Grantham’s Rueben Izod. Overall, a great performance by the whole team, well done everybody.
