U16s Morley Vs Grantham

U16s Morley Vs Grantham

Helen Culham18 Oct - 22:54

Thursday 16th October saw Grantham U16 travel to Morley and Alex Bellamy’s first game as head coach. This is always a challenging fixture as Morley has a fixed depth pool with a permanent shallow end, not something most visiting teams have experience with unlike the home team. However, Grantham got off to a terrific start defending the shallow end and with some clinical finishing led the first quarter 6-0. The change of ends for the 2nd quarter meant Grantham were now attacking the shallow end. This creates problems as players are not allowed to stand on the bottom, something that takes a bit of getting used to. However, Grantham still led 9-1 at half time. Quarter 3 saw a change in fortunes, with Grantham taking their eye off the game and allowing Morley back into it, with the quarter finishing 15-7. Morley’s renewed enthusiasm made for a tough 2nd half compared to the 1st but Grantham maintained their dominance finishing the game 19-9 and a well deserved victory. Goal scorers were Reuben (1), Sam (4), Alfie (1), Alexander (5), Bradley (1), Oscar (1), Seth (2) and Gabriel (4). Well done everyone a great team performance.
