Saturday 18th October and Grantham U16 played Sheffield U16 at home, an altogether different challenge compared to the previous Morley game. Sheffield, undoubtedly the strongest team in the league, always field a good team and this one was no different. Quarter 1 was hard fought with plenty of shots from Grantham, but no goals. Sheffield equally found goals hard to find with Reuben putting in a sterling performance, unfortunately 2 shots found their way through. Quarter 2 and Sheffield raised their game and scored 7 goals to lead 9-0 at half time. Renewed efforts from the Grantham team saw their 3 goals match Sheffield’s 3 goals in quarter 3. The efforts required by Grantham to stay in the game started to take their toll in the final quarter with Sheffield scoring another 5 goals to Grantham’s 1. The final score was 17-4 to Sheffield, despite this, Grantham showed a very strong commitment and passion throughout the game. Goal scorers were Alfie (2) and Sam (2). Great game everyone, well done.
