Water Polo Club – Membership & Match Fee Increase

Dear Members,

As a club, we are committed to providing high-quality training sessions and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our water polo programme. However, as you are aware, training sessions come at a cost, and pool hire rates continue to rise.

Pool hire will increase by a further 3% this April, meaning pool time now costs the club £114.45 per hour. These rising costs are reflected in the club’s latest accounts, which show a deficit of £2,017.27 for the year, with reserves standing at £8,033.34 as of 30th September 2025.

At September’s Committee Meeting, it was discussed that in order to keep pace with the continuous increase in pool hire and other associated costs, a rise in monthly club subscriptions would be necessary.

It was therefore unanimously agreed that monthly subscriptions will increase to £45 per month from April 2026, to make sure that we do not lose all of our reserves.

Match fees were also reviewed. It was clarified that these fees are in place primarily to cover referees’ expenses and do not contribute towards the cost of pool hire.

Following discussion, it was unanimously agreed that match fees will increase to:
• £5 per match for U16s and below
• £4 per match for Seniors and Men’s players

This adjustment will help contribute towards the rising cost of pool hire on match days.

In addition, the Committee agreed that:
• Further fundraising initiatives are needed to help support the club financially.
• A recruitment drive for new players should take place twice a year to help grow and strengthen the club.

We understand that fee increases are never welcome news, and these decisions were not taken lightly. However, they are necessary to ensure the club remains financially stable and able to continue providing training and competitive opportunities for all members.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the club.

Kind regards,
David Newton
